McChord Air Force Base Air Show

Well, on Saturday July 19, 2008 we went to the air show at McChord AFB. It began as a normal cloudy day in Washington state, but turned just before the show began. Unfortunately it was too late, the sun had already started melting my skin.
Ian was in a state of hea
venly bliss. He dragged Nathan from plane to plane asking a million questions about each one. He was so excited when he was able to walk up to the stealth fighters. He was more impressed when he saw the soldier guarding the fighters. He asked her if her gun was loaded and she replied "yes, and my orders are to shoot anyone that crosses this line" He was a little apprehensive about getting too close after that. We continued walking around to the other planes. He was able to see F-14 tomcats, Tank busters, C-17, coast guard rescue helicopter, and so many others that I lost track of their names. If you ever want more detail, Ian would be more than happy to explain.
Once the air show began, we were treated to a fun filled jet spectacular. Many different military planes performed special tactics and made lots of noise. The finale included an amazing performance from the AF Thunderbirds. I am still nursing the sun burn that I received that day, but it was well worth the pain.
