Baby Krambule update

Yesterday, Nathan and I went to see the OB for another visit. This was the initial OB visit where they drain my veins of blood and do all of the necessary tests to determine how things are going. Fortunately, Dr. Mitchell did another ultrasound. It was so cool. We were able to see the baby kick and moves his/her arms. It was so neat to see how much the baby has already grown.

After the ultrasound, Dr. Mitchell asked me a few more questions. I began sharing how my first pregnancy went. The preterm labor, the hospitalizations, the fetal assessments, the neonatologists appointments, the PIH. He went right back to the computer and began typing a long book in my profile. He is going to send me to another neonatologist for consultation. I am already on blood pressure pills so he will keep a close eye on that. He will begin pre-eclempsia testing at 20 weeks. He will use this test as a baseline for the remainder of the pregnancy. He said that most patients have a 5-10% chance of getting pre-eclempsia, but with my history of hypertension and all of my thyroid issues, I have a >30% chance. LOVELY! Nathan and I are praying that all of this is just precautionary and will not come to fruition.

Next appointment is in 4 weeks (December 15th). We won't find out the sex at that appointment. We will have to wait until January. To bad we won't know before Christmas!

New Family Addition

On Monday, November 10, we welcomed a new addition to our family. Nathan went down to California to pick up Kelsey his 17 year old niece. She was having a hard time down there and Nathan is her legal guardian. He received a phone call early Saturday morning regarding Kelsey, he looked at me and said "are you ready for a teenager?" What a question to ask. Who is ever really READY for a teenager? But of course, we were both more than happy to have her be part of our family. He brought her home on Monday and she is going to be part of our family now. In January or February (or once we move into a bigger place) her brother Kyle will also be joining our family.

This is really a life changing experience. I am trying to figure out how I am going to be with a 17 yr old, 16 yr old, 6 yr old and a newborn. Not to mention the three that will probably start coming over more often now that Kelsey, Kyle and the baby are coming.

Hey, I guess life is always full of surprises. We just desperately need to move out of our two bedroom/ one bath duplex. SCARY!!!

Up Close and Personal

Nathan arranged to have a tour of Alaska Airlines hangers when mom and dad came up here. We were given the ultimate insight into airplanes. Ian had a ball and I think dad was pretty intrigued as well.

Baby Krambule

On Monday, November 3rd, I went in for a "problem visit" to my OB. I called last week regarding some concerns that I was having and some symptoms that were occurring. Nathan has been very concerned and protective of me and the baby. After the nurse obtained all of my medical and past pregnancy information, the doctor has deemed me "high risk". Go figure!!

Nathan and I went in to visit Dr. Mitchell to discuss medications, my thyroid, why I am having night sweats and just general overall pregnancy stuff. He decided that he would like to do an ultrasound. YEAH! It was so exciting to be eight weeks along and to see the heartbeat of your baby. I already love him/her so much. (wow, I am starting to tear up. I must be pregnant!) Nathan was beaming like a very proud father. Dr. Mitchell had some bloodwork done and told me to go and visit my primary care doctor for my thyroid maintenance. I go back in to visit Dr. Mitchell on November 17th for a full OB visit.

Halloween Trunk or Treat

Talk about a fun night. Let's see, it began with the rain pouring down and the sun setting early. Since being in the primary presidency, I have been much busier than normal, so we needed to make a stop at Walmart to pick up 16 dozen donuts for the trunk or treat. Of course, Ian was already decked out in his costume. (He had decided after Halloween last year that he wanted to be a mummy.) Everyone commented on his costume and his face was just beaming. Well we arrive at the trunk or treat and there was a costume contest in the cultural hall. Three categories were available; prettiest costume, scariest costume, funniest costume. Ian entered into the scariest costume category and HE WON!! He was soooo excited and his face was beaming all night long. His aunt Cheryl took Ian and Tyler trunk or treating while I passed out candy. We had a great time. Nathan was working so he missed all the excitement of the contest. Maybe next year....

Well, Ian has been true to form and already decided what he would like to be next year. A Star Wars destroyer droid. Not sure how to make that costume. At least I have 12 months to work on changing his mind!
